FENI: Referring to the imminent verdict of Zia Orphanage Trust case, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said BNP will not join polls without its chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The BNP senior leader even warned that polls under Hasina government will not be allowed at all in Khaleda Zia’s absence.
He made the remarks to reporters after visiting recently demised BNP leader Sayed Mizanur Rahman’s grave in Feni town on Friday afternoon (January 26).
Earlier on Thursday (Jan 25), a Dhaka court fixed February 8 to deliver its verdict in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against Khaleda Zia and five others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore that came as grants for orphans from foreign banks.
Rizvi said, the cases filed against Khaleda, using fake allegations, statements and information, are baseless. The main intention is to harass her. Hasina government is doing it to keep Khaleda away from election and political field. It won’t be allowed.
“BNP is a people’s party, no one can deviate it from election. We will participate in polls only under a polls-time supportive government, not under Hasina government.”
