MYMENSINGH: The local administration has imposed Section 144 at Ishwarganj upazila in Mymensingh, as two groups of Juba League, the youth body of the ruling Awami League, were in fierce mood over the newly formed committee.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Ishwarganj Elsih Sharmin on Sunday (January 28) imposed the Section 144 for unidentified period.

The leaders and activists of the Juba League were divided into two groups centering the newly formed committee.

Abul Khayer, younger brother of Upazila Chairman Mahmud Hasan Sumon, was made convener in the committee, while the outgoing president was made executive committee member. The new committee leaders were attacked, while a stage of reception program was also vandalized.

In this backdrop, the Section 144 was imposed in the upazila headquarters to avert untoward incident.
