DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has summoned the meeting of her party's National Executive Committee on Saturday (February 03).
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed confirmed the matter to the media after the party’s 3-member delegation held a meeting Election Commission on Sunday (January 28).
The party sources said that the decision of the meeting was taken at the party’s standing committee meeting held on Saturday night (January 27).
The national executive committee meeting will begin in the morning of that day with Khaleda Zia in the chair. However, the venue has not been finalized till now.
Insiders said that the meeting was called to discuss the party’s strategy ahead of verdict in the Zia Orphanage Trust Graft case scheduled to be delivered on February 08.
The 522-member committee will discuss in the meeting about what steps should be taken if the verdict in the case goes against their party chief.
BNP held its last national council in March 2016 and formed the 522-member national executive committee. It will be the first meeting of the committee after the last council.
The last meeting of the executive committee was held in 2012.
