BCL men attack students’ strike in SUST

SYLHET: The activists of Progressive Students’ Alliance came under attack during their strike at the Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST) in Sylhet on Monday (January 29).

The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, swooped on the protestors in the morning.

The BCL men also attacked the female activists and assaulted them physically during the attack.

Chhatra Front activist Joydwip Das and several other protests were injured in the attack. They were taken to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

BCL’s assistant secretaries of the SUST unit MK Subrata Paul, Sadekur Rahman and many others BCL men took part in the attack.

The left-leaning student organizations are observing the strike across the country, including Dhaka University, protesting the attack of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League.

The Progressive Students’ Alliance called the countrywide after some 30 students were injured in the BCL attack in DU last week.
