DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has sat a meeting with the members of her party’s standing committee, the highest policy-making body of the party.  

The meeting began at about 9:15 pm on Sunday (February 04) at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in the city.   

Khaleda Zia called the meeting just a day before her visit to Sylhet and the verdict on graft case which is scheduled to be delivered on February 08.

The BNP chief will go to Sylhet on Monday (February 05) to offer prayers at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA).

BNP standing committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sirker, Tariqul Islam, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Mirza Abbas and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir joined the meeting.

The meeting sources said that the BNP’s policymakers were discussing the latest political development of the country, particularly the issue of verdict on Khaleda Zia’s case. They were discussing the party’s strategy about the February 08 verdict.

Earlier on February 03, the National Executive Meeting of the party was held at a hotel in the city where the party central leaders discussed the party’s strategies.
